2022-23 Covid-19 Protocol

In accordance with the latest CDC recommendations for COVID-19, Guajome has updated our COVID-19 Attendance Protocol as follows:

It is NO longer necessary for you to provide any test results (negative or positive) to the school, however, we do ask that you continue to report your student’s absence/illness to the Attendance Hotline at (760) 631-8505 each and every day your student is absent so that your student’s attendance can be updated accordingly.

STUDENT TESTS POSITIVE
If your student tests positive for COVID-19, please keep your student home, notify the school Attendance Hotline of either the date their symptoms began, or if no symptoms, the date they tested positive and follow the Return to School protocol below.

RETURN TO SCHOOL
Students who test positive and are symptomatic must remain at home for five (5) days. The first day they begin experiencing symptoms is considered Day 0, the following day would be Day 1, and so forth. If they have been fever-free for 24 hours prior to return (unmedicated) AND their symptoms are either not present or are mild and improving, they may return on Day 6.  If your student will be out of school beyond the isolation period, they may need a doctor’s note to excuse further absences.

It is recommended that returning students wear a mask when around others through Day 10, however, may remove their mask sooner than Day 10 if, after the initial 5 day isolation, they self-test negative for two consecutive days (one day apart.)  You may use over-the-counter (OTC) home test kits for this purpose and there is NO requirement to provide those results to the school for verification.

TESTS POSITIVE/NO SYMPTOMS
Students who test positive but have no symptoms, (and do not develop symptoms,) must also stay home for five (5) days, returning on Day 6. It is recommended that returning students wear a mask when around others through Day 10, however, may remove their mask sooner than Day 10 if, after the initial 5 day isolation, they self-test negative for two consecutive days (one day apart).  You may use over-the-counter (OTC) home test kits for this purpose and there is no requirement to provide those results to the school for verification.

EXPOSURE/CLOSE-CONTACTS
If your student was exposed to COVID-19 (close-contact), whether the exposure occurred at school or at home, and your student has no symptoms, your student may remain in school, however, it is expected that they self-test on day 3, 4 or 5 and report any positive results to the school.

If you need COVID home test kits, free kits are available for Guajome famlies in the Health Office for pick-up.
