Superintendent - Kevin Humphrey

Kevin Humphrey, Superintendent 

Kevin Humphrey has been serving as superintendent of Guajome Schools since 2016. Mr. Humphrey began his career as a history and government teacher and spent twelve years in the classroom. He then served as a school administrator at Guajome for four years before becoming Superintendent. Mr. Humphrey earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Bowling Green State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of St. Mary. He later completed his administrative credential at California State University, San Marcos. 

Mr. Humphrey grew up in Ohio and moved to California in 2008 to become part of the Guajome family. He enjoys being a proud father of his two young daughters, Mia and Lyla, and a supportive husband to his wife Megan who is also in the field of education. 

Currently, in his twenty-first year in the field of education, Mr. Humphrey embraces and appreciates the opportunity to work with all stakeholders to create the best possible learning environment for all families, and strives to build a community of life-long learners at Guajome.

Head of schools - Judd Thompson

Judd Thompson, Administrator

Judd Thompson began at Guajome Park Academy in 2005-06 as a history teacher, and served a variety of roles as House Leader, Subject Area Leader, and as a staff representative on the Board of Directors. After four years in Montana, he returned to Guajome in 2014 to teach history and serve as IB Coordinator. In 2016, Judd transitioned to Administrator of Curriculum and Learning Support. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Carroll College, as well as a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Montana, and is completing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Montana.

Site Administrator of Guajome Park Primary Academy - Lindsay Arias

Lindsay Arias, Administrator

Lindsay Arias graduated from the University of California, Riverside in 2005 with a degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Psychology. She then earned her multiple subject teaching credential and Masters Degree in Education the following year. Mrs. Arias began her career at Guajome Park Academy during the 2007-2008 school year as a 6th-grade teacher in a self-contained classroom. After teaching for 5 years, Guajome Park Academy wanted to add a K-5 program to its existing 6-12 program. Mrs. Arias’ true passion was (and still is) for the elementary grades, so she went back to school and attended Cal State San Marcos to acquire her administrative credential to help assist her in building a quality K-5 program. In the 2012-2013 school year, Guajome Park Primary opened its doors for the first time. 

Mrs. Arias is dedicated to the notion that all students should have a high-quality education and a safe and caring space to create relationships and learn life skills. She enjoys working with staff to grow as a team to facilitate environments for students to develop into lifelong learners.

Katy Perkins

Katy Perkins -Born and raised in Southern California, Katy obtained her bachelor's degree from the University of Redlands (Go Bulldogs!). Her teaching career began in 2005 at High Tech High Los Angeles in the lovely San Fernando Valley. In 2018, Katy graduated from UCLA with an M.Ed degree in Urban School Leadership and spent the next year coaching teachers in the juvenile halls and camps of Los Angeles County. Katy joined the Guajome team in July 2019 as the Coordinator of School Culture and Climate and ASB Advisor and transitioned to the role of Administrator in fall 2020. "I am honored to be included in such an amazing community of staff, faculty, and students. Every child has the right to be part of something special, and we get to provide these experiences in our daily work. I feel so fortunate to play a small part in that journey."

Areas of Responsibility: extracurricular activities, campus events, community events, community service, Associated Student Body, CAASPP, parent organization, staff development, and programs related to school climate and school culture.

Administrator of Intervention & Student Support

Mike Sterner

Mike Sterner graduated from United States International University with a degree in Diversified Studies. He then earned his single subject teaching credential in Social Studies in California.  Mr. Sterner then became a professional basketball player who played in 13 countries around the world.  After playing professional sports, Mr. Sterner became a Social Studies teacher and basketball coach for 7 years at the Middle/High School level. While teaching, he earned his Administrative Credential and a Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis on Administration at Alliant University. He has served as an administrator at school sites covering a range of levels including elementary, middle school, high school and alternative schools.
